CPR Classes Need To Include AED Training AS Recent Hockey Tragedy Signifies

Most people would guess the 30 odd year old as he was younger but in fact he was the one who died.
Both persons got CPR so was it the fact that the would be rescuers helping the man who died, didn't know what they were doing? No, the evidence indicates a much more simple reason. The man in his 50's was lucky enough to have had a cardiac arrest at a hockey ground equipped with an automated external defibrillator. The people who rescued this man's life used the AED to restore a normal heart rhythm. Medical study has confirmed over and over again that the use of these machines will double or treble a victims chance of living.
For the younger person, there was no AED available at the hockey ground he was playing at. Regardless of the vigorous efforts of both bystanders and the emergency services, this man tragically expired. Who knows whether he might have been saved had an automated external device been available and someone present had passed CPR classes and knew how to use it?
One death is one death so many and this incident, as well as several like it, should be enough proof that each sports ground should be equipped with an automated external defibrillator. The public must have access to these life saving devices in all public places where large numbers of people are usually present or those prone to a cardiac arrest. Some people may say that if you are healthy enough to play hockey you are not at significant risk but the statistics prove differently. There are frequently no symptoms of heart disease and anyone could be the next victim.
But it is not sufficient to have an AED on the playground as you need people who know how to use them. CPR courses teach these techniques so why not book your CPR class today. You never know you might save a life and think how that might feel?
